19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular reactions on court had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a third set.

He defended four early-game chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, the winner earned victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
